I have been gadding about this weekend – a road trip to Edinburgh, Scotland. I remember now that road trips can be fun without small children in tow, in fact any children in tow!
We spent Saturday in the suburb of Morningside which is packed with thrift shops, independent coffee shops and shops selling upcycled ‘antiques’.
These teacups and saucers had been glue together and modified to make tiny hanging gardens. Clever eh?

Everywhere was a picture of creativity and all the windows looked enticing.
And at the end of the road is Edinburgh College of Art with its degree show just open so we went to have a look – how cool is it to have a studio space overlooking the castle!
We did lots of reminiscing about ‘back in the day’ as we both went to art college (not Edinburgh though) but it was fun to be back in that kind of space with the smell of paint and creative excitement of young people ready to embark on their professional journeys.
And the reason for going to Edinburgh at all was for my other half to run his first full marathon which he finished in 3 hrs 31 mins. Very proud and very tired!
