Holiday hilights.

I really love America, not least because two dear friends live there. I love the culture, climate, craft community, size and space and the exchange rate! It’s so tidy compared to England, the roads are straight (brilliant idea), houses are cheaper and can be put up quicker, even fire hydrants look great!

I enjoyed everyday but here are my hi-lights.

We went to Country Couples one night in Springfield Ohio with our friend’s parents and family. I love country dancing and line dancing. These people knew their footwork and when it was easy enough they graciously called me in from the side where I was waiting with my puppy dog eyes saying please teach me! No photo’s I’m afraid! I was too busy counting and tapping!

Anthropologie

We visited Pittsburgh, Washington, Springfield, Door County and Chicago. We were good tourists and did all the museums, zoo’s, art galleries, sight seeing and restaurants that gave us a snapshot of that particular place. So I’m not ashamed to look like I visited the USA just to go to Anthropologie . But I would have! It was heaven under one roof for me – all those patterns, textiles, colour and china. Even the fitting rooms were like a lounge you’d be happy to have at home!

Someone (of the rockstar blog fame world) posted their wish list the other day and one wish was to work with Anthropologie. Well my hackles came up, and I said to myself “NO! I want to be the one to work with Anthropologie!” Internet are you listening? !

The sales assistant told me that two stores are planned in the UK at sometime – I nearly exploded with excitement.

On a calmer note, I just loved cycling through a State park in Door County. A cycle, a swim, a cycle home. The sun shining. An an opportunity to discover Trail Mix (we have since made our own batch at home!)

Food was a BIG part of this holiday and has since become a BIG part of me – literally!

On the way back from Washington we pulled off the freeway and ate in the first place we came too. We couldn’t believe our luck on discovering this iconic American 50’s diner. There was even a guy wearing a stetson in there (it didn’t seem fair posting the undercover pic I took of him!)

So if I ever live in America it will be where I can cycle and swim in the State park, pop into Anthropologie for a few bits (and also admire my new line of fabric on sale there!) have a house with a wrap around porch where I will sit in my rocking chair working on my next quilt just before I go out to eat in the diner before my Country Couples lesson!
