Past class – Beginners Guide to Painting in Gouache at Winterbourne Gardens  – June 2025

This one day course was an introduction to Gouache watercolour, masking fluid and wet and dry painting techniques.

I had the pleasure of taking these lovely ladies up and down the ropes of gouache watercolour painting – they learnt lots about masking fluid, letting colours bloom and how you have to work at layers again and again to build up shading and detail.

Each participant had their own simple still life to work from – something simple on a plate, laid on patterned fabric.

By adopting a birds eye view composition it was possible to capture detail and complete something finished in the 6 hours.
